Create a web directory

When trying to find a business many turn to their local yellow pages phone book. In an effort to bring yellow page resources above and beyond a simple name and number list and to generate new income streams, many web developers are creating feature rich web directories. Niche directories or yellowpage style websites offer visitors many other features not found in your standard phone book such as graphics, extended descriptions, dynamic maps, and interactive features.

Developing such a website can often be a tedious task for web developers, but one solution is a pre-developed solution such as phpMyDirectory. phpMyDirectory offers web developers an easy way to jump start their yellow page style website with little effort. It includes features such as automatic sign ups and payments, content approval, business list importing, and many other features allowing the developer to make their directory unique.

  1. Some argue that every webmaster has a directory or two. There is a reason for this - they can provide a nice residual income stream. I have three and am planning a few more!

  2. It is something i am looking into at present. I am not too conversant with php - maybe time to learn!!! I wish i had learnt and implemented it in my current site just as a CMS.

I have a domain for my directory and will hopefully have enough knowledge shortly to have it published..

  3. Don’t worry you don’t need to know PHP unless you start customising the script. It just works - there are loads of friendly people in the forums to help newbies and there are loads of extras you can buy too. Ben provides first class supprt too.

  4. Decided to go with your advice on your other post, going to give bid for position directory a go. A little different and probably better suited to the market i will be aiming at.

  5. Hey HIP, good luck with that. I use a link bidding script on one site HIP Directory. Check it out : )
